Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) Regulatory memo

01/02/2017

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has proposed a set of common rules in an attempt to fight tax evasion

The Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) has a similar objective to the US FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act), on a larger scale.

Financial institutions in almost 100 jurisdictions (as of the first months of 2015) will have to reinforce their controls and due diligence processes for their new and existing clients and report relevant information to the competent tax authorities (CRS or Common reporting & due diligence standard). The staggered implementation began in January 2016.
